Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has come under criticism for publicly calling out the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abba, over alleged failure to uphold the rule of law amid preparations for the state’s local government elections.

Taking to his X account on Monday, Davido expressed his frustration with the situation in a series of strongly worded posts.

In one of his posts, he wrote, “Mr. Commissioner, respect the rule of law!!! You are not madder or crazier than us!! Make we all kuku mad!! MEN MOUNT WALAI TO KRF!!! I will post you every day everywhere, Mr. man!!! Try me f***er.”

In another, he added, “Mr. Umar Abba, Osun State Commissioner, you are a disgrace to your children!!!!! Game on F***ER!!!! All of us go mad together!! Werey!!!”

However, after his statements went viral, Davido returned to social media to retract his comments. In a statement titled ‘My Take on Osun CP, NPF, and Forthcoming LG Elections’, he acknowledged the efforts of the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies.

He wrote, “Upon further review of political developments in Osun State, I have come to understand more facts, including the genuine efforts of state security agencies, particularly the Commissioner of Police. The bloodshed today enraged me, leading me to direct all blame at the CP.

“I now realize that the issue extends beyond just the Commissioner of Police or security chiefs. The senseless killings angered me deeply, and I believed they could have been prevented. However, I now see that security agencies, under the leadership of the CP, put in significant effort and deserve commendation.”

Despite his apology, reactions poured in from social media users, with many criticizing his approach.

A user, Daniel Chinaza, commented, “You’re thinking you’re sounding smart but you sound so ignorant and defeated.”

Another user, Charles Igwe advised; “Is this how you will be a good influence to the Nigerian Youths.”

Leave politics for politicians to play if you no sabi play politics”

A commenter, Ade, added, “See as Davido they do.. regardless you shouldn’t drag his children to this.. if a fan call you out this way you wont like it either.

There are more ways to handle things as an adult, na why them go Dey rate wizkid over you”
