The Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (retd.), has commenced an inspection tour of electoral offices across various local councils in Lagos State.
Joined by other commission members, she conducted a facilities assessment across the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas. This initiative is part of the commission’s preparations for the upcoming local government elections.
Justice Okikiolu-Ighile emphasized the importance of familiarizing the commission with the geographical landscape of all councils, identifying potential challenges for electoral officials, and assessing logistical needs.
“This visit equally allows for firsthand information of the state of the commission’s offices vis-à-vis equipment as well as storage facilities available,” she stated in a press release on Thursday.
She further reassured Lagos residents of LASIEC’s commitment to ensuring a fair electoral process and a secure environment for all political participants.
