The family of renowned Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, has filed a petition with the Department of State Services (DSS) over his sudden disappearance, expressing deep concern about his whereabouts.
In a petition dated February 7 and signed by their lawyer, Wilson Anuge, the Idibia family stated that the singer had been missing since February 10, 2025, and had not been seen or heard from since.
According to the family, 2Face left his residence that day dressed in his loungewear, indicating he was going for his usual walk, but he never returned.
“We are writing to urgently seek your assistance regarding a profoundly troubling situation involving a member of the Idibia family, Mr. Innocent Idibia (also known as 2Face or 2Baba), whom our client reasonably believes has been missing since Monday, February 10, 2025,” the petition stated.
“We believe that Mr. Innocent left his residence in the early hours of February 10, 2025, in his loungewear, suggesting that he was going for his habitual walk, but he has not returned home since then. Despite extensive efforts by his family, staff, and the management of his record label to reach him including contacting friends and acquaintances, there has been no contact or information about his whereabouts.
“This distressing situation, combined with the fact that those closest to him have not heard from him for over 72 hours, has left his family deeply worried.”
The family emphasized that 2Face had never disappeared in such a manner before and had never abandoned his professional commitments. They described his complete lack of communication as highly unusual and alarming.
Adding to their concerns, several of the singer’s close friends reportedly received messages from what appeared to be his social media accounts, requesting financial assistance.
“These messages are extremely concerning, as Mr. Innocent is financially independent and has never sought help in such a manner. This has led his family to suspect that his identity may have been compromised, raising fears that he may have been abducted and manipulated to exploit his contacts for financial gain.
“The gravity of the situation cannot be ignored, and the possibility of foul play must be considered. Our clients are deeply worried about both his physical safety and the potential misuse of his identity while he remains unaccounted for.”
The family urged the DSS to leverage its resources and expertise to locate and rescue 2Face, highlighting his significant influence in the Nigerian music industry.
“It is worthy of note that the victim is a legend and holds a celebrity status in the Nigerian music industry, with countless youths and citizens looking up to him, not to mention his wife, children, relatives, and employees, who are now traumatised. His musical empire has also been left in a state of paralysis as a direct consequence of the suspect’s criminal act of abducting him and rendering him incommunicado.
“Our humble request is that you intervene urgently to investigate, locate, and rescue the victim from wherever the suspect is currently detaining him.”
Meanwhile, social media has been abuzz after a video surfaced on Thursday showing 2Face proposing to Edo State House of Assembly lawmaker Natasha Osaruwa, just hours after declaring his love for her. This comes amid speculation about his impending divorce from his wife, Annie Idibia.
In response, 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, released a video on Friday, pleading with Nigerians to intervene and urge Natasha to release her son, stating that he had not been himself in recent days.
