The Directorate of State Services (DSS) security leaders have gathered in Kano State to discuss the growing security issues that the North West region and Nigeria as a whole are facing.
The 14th Quarterly Conference of State Directors of Security in the North West Geopolitical Zone was called by Yusuf Magaji Bichi, the Director General of the DSS, with the intention of proactively addressing the wave of insecurity engulfing the country, as stated by Alhassan Muhammad, the DSS director in Kano.
Muhammad underlined that the platform provides a means of exchanging knowledge, sharing insights, and investigating inventive solutions to tackle the diverse security concerns that are common in the area.
He emphasised the complexity of today’s security issues, which include political unrest, armed banditry, farmers-herder conflicts, cybersecurity risks, physical security issues, terrorism, and youth restlessness.
“The changing security environment demands cooperation, information sharing, and strategic planning among security agencies and stakeholders,” he continued.
Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, asked security services to step up their efforts to find and detain those responsible for the nation’s security issues. He demanded that comprehensive intelligence be gathered to identify the offenders, irrespective of their connections.
