The Cultural Day event kicks off the 10th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) schedule on Friday, May 10, 2024.
On Saturday, May 11, the Cultural Day event will formally begin the schedule of events leading up to the Award Night.
The executive head of MultiChoice West Africa’s content and West Africa channels, Dr. Busola Tejumola, stated her excitement about the event in advance and noted that the award ceremony has grown significantly in popularity and prominence since it began in 2013.
In our quest to honour African creativity and brilliance, the tenth AMVCA edition marks a critical turning point. The event this year honours ten years of distinction in African film and television.
We are excited to acknowledge the extraordinary achievements of performers, directors, and other industry professionals who continue to uplift and amuse audiences around the continent and beyond as we get ready to celebrate this historic occasion.
Winners from 25 categories—16 non-voting, 9 audience-voted, and winners of two recognition awards—Trailblazer and Lifetime Achievement—will be announced at the 10th AMVCA.
The Best Lead Actor and Actress categories are supported by Verve and Quickteller, respectively. Amstel Malta is the sponsor of the Best Movie, Best Digital Content Creator, and Best Indigenous Africa Magic Originals categories. Martell is the sponsor of the Best Director category. The Best Unscripted M-net Original and Best Writing TV Series categories are sponsored by Indomie, while MTN is the sponsor of the Best Short Movie category. TECNO is the sponsor of the Best in Cinematography category.
Special cultural events and musical performances will be part of the Cultural Day programme. IK Osakioduwa will host the awards ceremony once again, and talented musicians will play live.
On May 11, starting at 4 PM WAT, the Award Night will be broadcast live across all Africa Magic channels on DStv and GOtv.
