The 37th World Congress of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) will take place in Antwerp, Belgium, Flanders, and Den Bosch, The Netherlands, from September 18 to 25, 2024. The programme for the congress has been released.
The World Congress, with the theme “Embrace and Connect,” organised by the ITI centres in Belgium, Flanders, and the Netherlands, will examine how theatre may promote healing in the face of division and violence. Furthermore, how the performing arts, which cut beyond linguistic and geographic barriers, may be a powerful medium for fostering understanding and connections across cultural divides.
Activities in Antwerp, Belgium over two nights are scheduled as follows: arrival on September 18, Opening Ceremony, Conference Keynote Addresses, Panel Discussions, Meet and Greet and Performances on September 19, General Assembly, ITI Committee Meetings, and Performances on September 20. The schedule is still a “working document” and subject to change.
September 21 and 22, Den Bosch, The Netherlands: Committee Meeting Reports, Closing Ceremony, Interactive Meetings, Interactive Workshops, a theatre production of Not the Fathers and The Shell Trial, and elections for the ITI General Assembly President and EC.
