Sen. John Owan Enoh, the minister of sports development, has resolutely declared his intention to revitalise and realign Nigerian sports in order to fulfil President Bola Ahmed’s Renewed Hope mandate for sports development.

In a conversation with his media team, Senator Enoh, who made the commitment while outlining the noteworthy progress made thus far, underlined his Ministry’s resolve to elevate sports in Nigeria to unprecedented levels of brilliance and distinction.

He emphasised the ministry’s commitment to building on prior achievements to promote revolutionary change in the sports industry, noting that in spite of obstacles, the ministry is unwavering in its goal of spurring the growth of sports all throughout the country.

Enoh declared, “We are totally dedicated to taking advantage of this momentum to create positive change and achieve unparalleled success. Sports in Nigeria are going through a huge shift.

Remember that Senator Enoh declared a state of emergency on officiating after Nigerian match referees were left off the 2023 AFCON match officiating officials list? As a result of joint efforts, a plan to revitalise officiating in Nigeria was created, and Nigerian referees were added to the pool for international competitions by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) for 2024.

The Super Eagles’ AFCON campaign in Cote d’Ivoire was successful and free of controversy thanks in large part to his diligent leadership.

Beyond football, Nigeria dominated the African Games in Ghana with major victories in boxing, weightlifting, and wrestling.

Nigerian sports are going to have a better future thanks to our joint efforts and strategic ideas. Enoh continued, “Our objective is to foster a culture of sports excellence at all levels in addition to achieving success on the international stage.

While expressing confidence in Team Nigeria’s preparation to succeed in the next Paris 2024 Olympics, he also guaranteed that the Sports Ministry, which is under his direction, will keep up its hard work to attract private investors into sports.

“Team Nigeria sees the trip to Paris 2024 as a chance to excel and bring honour to our country. He declared, “We are totally dedicated to helping our athletes and making sure they have everything they need to succeed on the international scene.
