Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has stated that overly enthusiastic fans frequently compare her to other female singers.
She claimed that her admirers frequently set her up against all up-and-coming female musicians, implying that they are vying for her “throne.”
The “Water & Garri” actress declared that, since she doesn’t think music is a competition, she would make an effort to become friends with the up-and-coming female musicians.
Savage talked in a recent BET interview.
“Fans always try to pit me against other female artists,” the singer stated. People would say things like, “Hey, she’s coming to take her throne,” whenever a new female artist emerged.
And since it’s not a competition, I would go above and above to become friends with them [new female performers]. The male artists are the true rivals. I was pleased that Tyla, a female musician, defeated the male candidates in the Grammy Awards’ inaugural Best African Music Performance category.
