Lagos, Nigeria – In a bid to revolutionize waste management in the state, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, has announced plans to build waste-to-energy plants in Olusosun, Epe, and Badagry.
Speaking at the Waste to Energy Summit, themed “Driving Environmental Sustainability,” held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Commissioner Wahab revealed the state government’s commitment to transforming the waste management system.
The summit, organized by Rack Centre in partnership with the NYSC Community Development Service (CDS), brought together stakeholders to discuss innovative solutions for environmental sustainability.
The proposed waste-to-energy plants are expected to significantly reduce waste disposal challenges in the state, promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.
This initiative aligns with the Lagos State Government’s vision of a #GreaterLagosRising, prioritizing environmental sustainability and infrastructure development.
