Tinubu sends N70,000 minimum wage bill to NASS for passage into law
The Minimum Wage bill has been forwarded to the House of Representatives by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday for review and eventual enactment.
A new national minimum wage and the legislative foundation for putting the agreed-upon pay into effect are provided in Tinubu’s letter, which was read aloud on the House floor.
To guarantee the minimum wage bill’s prompt implementation for the benefit of Nigerian workers, the president encouraged lawmakers to hasten its adoption in the letter.
In line with section 58 of the 1999 Constitution, as modified, Tinubu also proposed amending the Nigeria Police Act.
This is coming as Tinubu approved N70,000 as the new national minimum wage for workers.
This followed a series of discussions between Nigerian government representatives and organized labour.
However, lawmakers are anticipated to approve the N70,000 minimum wage.
