In a bid to enhance food security and reduce the role of middlemen in the supply chain, the Lagos State Government has announced the construction of a massive food logistics hub in Ketu-Ereyun, Epe.
According to Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, the hub will be the largest of its kind and will enable direct supply to markets, bypassing intermediaries. Hamzat revealed that smaller logistics centers are also being built, including one in Idi-Oro, Mushin, and five others currently under construction.
This initiative aims to improve food distribution, reduce costs, and increase the availability of fresh produce to consumers. The Lagos State Government’s efforts to strengthen food security and support the agricultural sector are expected to have a positive impact on the economy and residents’ quality of life.
With the construction of these logistics hubs, Lagos is poised to become a model for food security and sustainable agriculture in Nigeria.
