The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade I, has ordered the immediate dissolution of an unauthorized coronation committee which was allegedly formed without his approval.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the monarch stated that all activities or committee created in regards to his coronation without official approval will be considered illegal and would not be tolerated.
Titled “Coronation Committee Setup in Oyo Town: Notice of Cease & Desist,” the statement warned that;
“Any committee or activity being set up or promoted without the prior consent and approval of His Imperial Majesty and his office shall be deemed unauthorized and will not be allowed to exist,” the statement read.
The Alaafin also addressed those involved to immediately halt all activities related to the unauthorized committee. He further emphasized that the royal family would oversee any official fundraising efforts and determine if there was a need for an official committee.
“The efforts of the organisers are appreciated, and they will be informed as events unfold should there be any need for their contributions,” the statement added.
