The Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi Government recently approved a sum of N4,836,546,000 for the 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme aimed at supporting vulnerable individuals during the holy month.
This decision was announced by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sagir Musa, at a recent council meeting held at the Government House in Dutse.
According to Musa, the funding will be provided by both the state and local governments. The state government will contribute 55% of the total amount, while local government administrations will cover the remaining 45%.
He also revealed that the programme will increase the feeding centers across the state from 609 to 630, with each center offering three different meals per person, including Kunu, Kosai, and Jollof rice. Each feeding center will serve 300 people each day of the holy month.
In addition to the Ramadan programme, the council also approved the revitalization of 114 ward-level Primary Health Care Centers across the state.
Musa further revealed that the revitalization project costs around N9,778,830,388.00 billion initiative and is part of the World Bank’s Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress for Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) Programme, which aims to improve healthcare delivery and expand Universal Health Coverage in Jigawa.
