The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has released a statement that the agency is aiming to generate N25.2 trillion in tax revenue this year.
This statement was confirmed by FIRS Executive Chairman, Dr. Zach Adedeji who revealed that the mandate is a result of the agency’s record-breaking achievement last year, where it collected N21.6 trillion, surpassing its N19.4 trillion goal.
Adedeji states; “The year 2024 was pivotal in laying a solid foundation for transforming the FIRS into a globally recognised, efficient, and trusted revenue authority,”
He also disclosed that the FIRS plans to focus on three key pillars: capacity building, technological advancement, and infrastructure enhancement.
The agency’s mission for 2025 is not just to sustain its success but to elevate its impact and solidify its position as a global model for tax administration.
Adedeji also added that; “This year, our mission is both ambitious and transformative: to build a service of excellence defined by the expertise of our people, the modernisation of our facilities, and the innovative use of technology to enhance our processes
He further expressed confidence that the FIRS will meet and exceed its N25.2 trillion target for 2025, reinforcing tax revenue as a major player in Nigeria’s economic stability and growth.
