Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has addressed misconceptions surrounding the N1.8 billion box office earnings of her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, reminding fans that the entire sum does not belong to her.
In a lighthearted post on X on Saturday, Akindele explained that the revenue is shared among multiple stakeholders, including cinemas, distributors, and tax authorities.
“I beg, no be only me get the N1.8 billion o! Cinema go collect, tax go collect, distributor go collect!” she wrote, emphasizing the financial breakdown involved in movie earnings.
Despite the impressive box office performance, the actress encouraged fans to keep supporting the film, aiming for a historic N2 billion milestone.
“Maybe when I get to N2 billion, I fit settle. So please go see #eljthemovie in cinemas and take us to N2 billion naira. Thank you,” she added.
Akindele, known for her box office successes, has solidified her position as one of Nollywood’s most bankable filmmakers. With Everybody Loves Jenifa already setting records, industry watchers are keen to see if it will surpass the N2 billion mark.
