Nigerian music star Davido has earned a spot on King Charles III’s personally curated music playlist, set to be showcased in the British monarch’s new Apple Music show, The King’s Music Room.
The playlist, which highlights King Charles III’s diverse musical taste, includes a mix of disco, reggae, and Afrobeats, featuring artists from across the Commonwealth, such as Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue, Grace Jones, Davido, and Raye.
The show, recorded in Buckingham Palace, will premiere on Apple Music next Monday as part of the Commonwealth Day celebrations.
Speaking about his selections, King Charles III emphasized the deep connection he has with music, describing the playlist as a reflection of his life’s journey.
“Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me. I know that is also the case for so many others,” the monarch stated.
He further added:
“So this is what I particularly wanted to share songs which have brought me joy. This seemed such an interesting and innovative way to celebrate this year’s Commonwealth Day.”
The inclusion of Davido, a global Afrobeats icon, underscores the genre’s growing influence on the international stage.
