NSITF Pays N25 Million Compensation to Injured National Assembly Staff

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has disbursed N25 million as compensation to a National Assembly staff member who sustained an injury while in service.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive of NSITF, Mr. Oluwaseun Mayomi Faleye, presented the cheque on Tuesday to the Clerk of the National Assembly, Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana, who received it on behalf of the injured employee at his office.

Speaking during the presentation, Faleye emphasized the importance of the social insurance scheme in protecting workers across both the public and private sectors from occupational hazards.

“This N25 million compensation cheque, being presented to a female staff member of the National Assembly who sustained an injury while in service, is symbolic of what NSITF stands for,” he stated.

He further reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring that all eligible enrollees receive due compensation, stressing the need for compliance with insurance payments.

In response, Ogunlana commended NSITF for its dedication to safeguarding the welfare of Nigerian workers, noting that such initiatives provide not just financial relief but also restore hope.

“This event, the presentation of a cheque to our staff,underscores NSITF’s commitment to ensuring that no Nigerian worker is left financially vulnerable due to workplace-related health setbacks,” he said.

He also urged NSITF to expedite the disbursement process for other eligible beneficiaries, assuring the agency of the National Assembly’s legislative support to enhance its capacity to fulfill its mandate effectively.
