CBN Approves Parallex Bank And Two Additional Banks For NESS Fee Collection

 

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Friday approved three additional designated banks for the collection of the Nigeria Export Supervision Scheme (NESS) fees.

 

In a circular signed by Dr. W.J. Kanya on behalf of the Director for Trade & Exchange Department, the Apex bank disclosed that Coronation Merchant Bank Limited, Parallex Bank Limited and Lotus Bank have been added to the list of Banks collecting the NESS fees.

 

“This is to notify all Authorized Dealers, Service Providers and the general public that the Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning has approved the Appointment of the underlisted additional designated Banks for the collection of NESS fees.

 

“The banks are Coronation Merchant Bank Limited, Parallex Bank Limited and Lotus Bank.

 

“Consequently, all Authorized Dealers are therefore enjoined to being the information to the attention of their exporting customers,” the CBN stated in the circular.

 

The Nigerian Export Supervision Scheme (NESS) Fee is a statutory payment to the Federal Government on all legitimate goods exported from Nigeria which includes the payment for non-oil goods.

 

It is charged at 0.50% of the value of the export and it is collected by the Central Bank of Nigeria through the commercial banks.
