Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu secures endorsements for re-election from seven gubernatorial candidates representing nine different political parties

Seven Governorship Candidates and Nine Political Parties Extend Their Support to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for a Second Term”

The endorsement was made by the Alliance of Registered Political Parties during a press conference held in Lagos on Monday. The nine political parties that expressed their support for Governor Sanwo-Olu’s re-election are the All Peoples Party, Action Democratic Party, Allied Peoples Movement, National Rescue Movement, Young Progressives Party, New Nigeria Peoples Party, Zenith Labour Party, Social Democratic Party, and People’s Redemption Party.

They justified their decision by highlighting Governor Sanwo-Olu’s exceptional performance in office and their belief in his suitability for a second term.

“We arrived at this decision after conducting a comprehensive assessment of the remarkable achievements and rapid development in Lagos. We are unwilling to jeopardize the numerous significant accomplishments of the current administration that are spread throughout the state due to divisive politics. The governor’s unwavering commitment as a progressive democrat is praiseworthy, and continuity is crucial.”

The parties emphasized that they closely observed Governor Sanwo-Olu’s tireless campaign efforts across the state and acknowledged his effective handling of the COVID-19 pandemic through proactive measures that showcased his responsive and responsible leadership. They also mentioned substantial infrastructure development, investments in education, healthcare, environmental initiatives, youth empowerment, tourism, public transportation, housing, and advancements in science and technology as factors that should be reinforced during his second term.

Additionally, they highlighted the importance of aligning the state with the incoming presidency of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. They believe that Lagos State should be entrusted to experienced and patriotic leaders during such a critical period.

“Lagos State, in times like these, benefits from capable and devoted leadership. Voting for Sanwo-Olu represents an endorsement of continuity and further progress.” The parties urged their supporters to re-elect Governor Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, in the upcoming election.

Seven governorship candidates also withdrew their candidacies in favor of Sanwo-Olu ahead of the Saturday’s election. These candidates are Ajayi Adebayo (YPP), Mrs. Adeyemi Abiola (APP), Adenipebi Mode Adekunle (ZLP), Kupoluyi Funmi (APM), Braithwate Akinwynmi (NRM), Olanrewaju Kamal (NNPP), and Ishola Bamidele (ADP).
