Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources Demolishes Illegal Structures to Mitigate Flooding

In a decisive move, the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources has initiated the demolition of unauthorized structures in Lagos that hinder the natural flow of floodwater.

Since assuming the role of Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab has demonstrated a strong commitment to flood prevention. His proactive approach includes daily inspections and prompt decision-making to safeguard lives and protect valuable properties

In a statement released on Monday, Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment, confirmed the commencement of the operation implemented by the Monitoring Enforcement and Compliance Department of the State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources.

Wahab stated, “Today, the Monitoring Enforcement and Compliance Department of Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources carried out the demolition of all illegal structures located along the perimeter fence of Lagos State Model College, Meiran, Agbado, Oke-Odo LCDA, and its environs.”
