REVIEW.

The story stemmed from one action, spread out into different parts, at a point it was going to go out of their control but was brought back, leaving several of its different parts undone.

Cinematography was great, the camera angles were all good.

Location was spot on and the different set designs were amazing.

The props and set also greatly represented the era/time which the story was set in.

Acting was good and some of the Actors fully bodied their characters.

The suspense was also interesting as there were a few scenes that kept me glued and got me thinking.

The really not so good aspect of the movie comes from its rushed ending and also the blindspot that was Ibukun’s trauma.

The genre of the movie would also be better stated as a crime drama, because the horror wasn’t really much.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN.

The lead character Amanda played by Martha Ehinome was spot on. She had her facial expressions and body movement in check. She acted like an old hand.

Ireti Doyle played Mother Superior and was superior throughout.

Chioma Chukwuka’s character as Sister Ruth was more expressive than talking and she did it well.

Deyemi Okanlawon played the cynical Inspector very well.

Chuks Joseph played Lashe very well too.

The movie and its title hoped to give a history of what might be a horrific experience to some viewers and a myth to others. It also shed light on the issues of sexual assault, harassment and rape.

It did this by fusing facts and fiction weaving it all in a traditional setting and ending with a resolution and a caveat.

It hit its mark and was a great watch. The suspense was intriguing.

Recommendation: Yes

Rating: 8/10.

Side Musings.

Did you also think at one point that Inspector Oscar was the person they were looking for?

Were you really scared? I wasn’t at all. The horror level was low for me.
