In a significant move towards maintaining environmental compliance, the operatives of the Drainage Enforcement and Compliance department from the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources have taken action against a developer. On Thursday, November 30, 2023, a stop work order was issued to the developer located along System 156, behind Victoria Crest Estate II in Lekki.

The developer had been found guilty of illegally sandfilling the channel and carrying out reclamation work without obtaining any approval from the state authorities. This blatant disregard for the necessary permits and regulations has prompted the swift intervention of the ministry.

Under the hashtag #ZeroToleranceLagos, the Lagos State government has been actively promoting its commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards environmental violations. This recent enforcement action serves as a clear message that such activities will not be tolerated.

The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources under Hon. Tokunbo Wahab remains dedicated to preserving the natural resources and ensuring sustainable development within the state. By taking decisive action against those who flout the rules, the ministry aims to protect the environment and maintain the overall well-being of the community.
