The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has received praise for offering its pilgrims the best lodging during the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s 2023 Hajj exercise.

The praise was written in a letter addressed to Mr. Saheed Onipede, Secretary of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, and signed by Mal. Jalal Ahmad Arabi, OON, FWC, Acting Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The letter, which was sent on December 4, 2023, states, “I have the pleasure on behalf of the staff and management of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to commend your Board’s outstanding performance during the 2023 Hajj operation” .

“I am pleased to convey that your Board has come first as the State with the best Accommodation (Ajyad zone) among other States of the Federation in your zone,” Mal. Arabi said, expressing his satisfaction with the State’s performance.

Although he commended the State for their achievement, he also urged the Board to maintain the momentum and strive for even greater success in future operations, particularly the rapidly approaching 2024 exercise.

Board Secretary Mr. Saheed Onipede responded by expressing his happiness and appreciation to Almighty Allah for the accomplishment. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, for their support, pointing out that the administration’s backing has been instrumental in the Board’s numerous successes.

Onipede expressed his gratitude to the NAHCON CEO and his management team for recognising the state as deserving of recognition, but he also emphasised that he was not shocked, given the state’s long history of superior Hajj operations. He continued by saying that the purpose of the most recent commendation was to validate the Board’s competence in offering her pilgrims high-quality services.

As the operation for 2024 draws near, Onipede pledged that the Board would do everything within its power to live up to its declared duty of giving the pilgrims a setting that will enable them to have a spiritually fulfilling journey to the Holy Land.
