The second NGDX Creative Conference in Lagos, with the theme Liftoff, was wrapped up by Naija Graphic Design (NGD), the largest community of practice for creative design artists in Africa. A number of speakers in the creative industry discussed a range of subjects with the goal of raising awareness so that practitioners can fully utilise their skills and advance the field of design.

Laolu Obende, the company’s chief executive officer, gave the keynote address to kick off the conference. She defined Liftoff as an awareness that equips creatives with the means to rewrite our collective reality, one creative endeavour at a time.

The launch of a clever marketplace that allows graphic designers to profit from their work by reselling it to a worldwide clientele was one of the conference’s highlights. Instead of putting these assets on storage, the Marketplace gives creatives the chance to resell them and make more money.

During his speech, Obende continued to argue for residual creative assets and emphasised the importance of creatives seizing the opportunity to establish an African-focused creative stock depository.

According to him, “Creatives can now generate additional value by using the marketplace as a selling point for created assets, rather than leaving assets on storage devices.”

“By easily acquiring pre-existing assets and increasing productivity instead of creating everything from scratch, this will help fellow designers save time.”
