The Guinness Eye Centre at Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Idi Araba, Yaba, Lagos, was recently renovated and restocked, demonstrating Guinness Nigeria Plc’s consistent commitment to the country’s healthcare system.

 

Speaking at the event, Guinness Nigeria Plc Chairman of the Board Dr. Omobola Johnson expressed deep admiration for the clinic’s transformation, saying, “The Guinness Eye Centre emerges as a beacon of education, enriching the lives of patients and contributing significantly to the academic pursuits of medical professionals in Nigeria and neighbouring countries.”

 

The managing director of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Mr. Adebayo Alli, also spoke at the event and emphasised the day’s critical importance, saying, “Today stands as a pivotal milestone signifying our unwavering dedication to Environmental Social and Governance principles and the welfare of our local communities.” The Guinness Eye Centre is the perfect example of our unwavering dedication to meeting needs and advancing the goal of a healthier society.

 

Guinness Nigeria has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to the advancement of healthcare by Prof. Wasiu Lanre Adeyemo, FAS, Chief Medical Director of LUTH.

 

Reminiscing, Adeyemo said, “Guinness Nigeria Plc constructed the multi-million-naira Guinness Eye Centre (GEC) and gave it to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in 1993. The Department of Ophthalmology at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital moved into the complex in December 1993, despite there being no official opening or commissioning.

 

An overjoyed Adeyemo expressed in public how much Guinness Nigeria Plc’s coordinated efforts to fulfil their corporate social responsibility by contributing their fair share to hospital facilities enhancement have meant.

 

The renovated and expanded Guinness Eye Centre is a symbol of Guinness Nigeria Plc’s resolve to make healthcare a top priority and highlights their steadfast commitment to improving the environments and communities they assiduously serve.
