The traditional head of the Mgbede community in Egbema Kingdom, Rivers State, Nzeobi Amida, bestowed a chieftaincy title on Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali on Sunday.

Nwabali’s performance at the recently concluded 2023 African Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire earned him the title of Ugo Egbema, “The Pride of Egbema Kingdom,” according to the Nigerian sports website BSN.

The title awarded to Nwabali, according to BSN, is in appreciation of the honor the goalie brought to Egbema Kingdom and ONELGA after his performance for the Super Eagles. Amuda is also the head of the ONELGA Council of Chiefs.

It had previously been reported that Nwabali, a native of Rivers, received a N20 million gift and the title of Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State from Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Friday.

In addition, President Bola Tinubu presented the Member of the Order of the Niger national award to every member and official of the Nigerian Super Eagles on Tuesday in recognition of their success in winning the silver medal in the recently completed AFCON.
