The governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has conveyed his condolences for the passing of Abdulraheem Owokoniran, his former Senior Special Assistant on Works and Infrastructure.
Owokoniran’s death was referred to as a “rude shock” by Governor Sanwo-Olu in a sympathy statement sent on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr. Gboyega Akosile.
According to reports, Owokoniran, a former assistant to First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and a previous candidate in the Surulere Federal Constituency House of Representatives bye-election primary for the All Progressives Congress (APC), passed away this past weekend in the United Kingdom.
The deceased, according to the governor, was a young politician from Nigeria with brilliant ideas for developing and constructing nations.
He went on to say Owokoniran was a fervent supporter of programs aimed at the masses and a solid party guy.
As the younger brother of the late Owokoniran, Governor Sanwo-Olu also expressed sympathy to Mr. Idris Aregbe, his Special Advisor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture.
Along with the Lagos APC, the whole Surulere community, and the deceased’s friends and political acquaintances, the Governor also expressed his condolences.
“I am saddened by the passing of Abdulraheem Owokoniran, one of our trusted party members in the Lagos APC,” he stated. He was a devout Democrat and a faithful member of the party.
He was a fantastic politician who was incredibly devoted to our party and gave us his all. During his time as Senior Special Assistant on Works and Infrastructure, he gave his fair share to the expansion and advancement of Lagos State, serving the state with great zeal.
“The whole political class, especially the residents of Surulere, the Lagos APC, and the state at large, would miss Abdulraheem Owokoniran. I ask God to give Abdulraheem Owokoniran’s soul eternal peace in Aljannah Firdaus and to give his immediate family the strength to cope with his priceless loss.”
