A bill to establish the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Trust Fund has been enacted by the Senate.
The goal of the bill, which is being sponsored by Senator Yemi Adaramodu (APC, Ekiti), is to establish a stable source of funding for the NYSC, as well as to create camps, NYSC formations, and facilities, as well as to acquire skills, train, and empower corps members.
Speaking to reporters following the bill’s passing, Adaramodu promised that, unlike other social intervention programs now in place, the NYSC Trust Fund would not be abused if it were to become law.
