Former Assistant Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Dennis Amachree, has stated that there is no justification for going after those who trade on Binance.
This was said by Amachree in her analysis of the controversy-causing escape of Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla from detention.
It was alleged that Anjarwalla and his colleague Tigran Gambaryan had escaped from the guest home in Abuja where they were being detained.
However, Amachree stated in the interview that Nigeria shouldn’t go after people that trade on Binance. The platform itself is what has to be examined. We should go after the corporate executive if we wish to pursue the corporation. For instance, no one would search for me if I deposited your money in UBA and UBA committed a crime. They would search for the executives.
In order to prevent the fugitive Binance executive from leaving, Amachree continued, he ought to have been detained by the DSS or the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He claimed that security had to have been breached in order for Anjarwalla to escape, and he demanded an explanation from the security staff.
“I don’t know whether the NSA has a detention facility,” he continued. The President receives advice from the NSA. Thus, had he believed that the suspects ought to be placed under detention, shouldn’t he have transferred them to the DSS or the EFCC to be held until the court date, but at a guest home with a phone nearby?
