Midway through his Sunday performance at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina, Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema dazzled the crowd by exiting the stage.
On Day 2 of the festival at Dix Park in Raleigh, Rema was playing his hit song “Calm Down.” However, he stopped midway through to voice his displeasure with the low sound quality and then left the stage.
He pushed for African musicians to perform on worldwide platforms with the same audio quality as their Western peers.
“Hold on, there are too many sound issues,” he murmured. It’s ruining my entire performance. I really don’t feel this sh*t.
“I stand with Africa; this situation is too problematic. Should the sound quality not be flawless for each performer who steps onto the stage… You are mucking things up while Africa is in the home.
The creator of Dreamville Festival is J. Cole, a famous American rapper.
