A federal high court in Abuja has ordered Halima Abubakar, the actress, to pay the sum of N10 million as damages for publishing derogatory remarks against Apostle Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries International.
In 2022, Halima called out Suleman on social media while claiming the pair once dated.
But Suleman threatened to sue her for “defamatory statements”.
The matter appeared to have died down afterward as reports of Halima’s battle with an undisclosed illness surfaced.
A blogger also claimed the cleric had affairs with different Nollywood stars like Georgina Onuoha, Queen Nwokoye, Shan George, and Vivian Metchie.
The blog post named Lilian Bach, Iyabo Ojo, Ruth Kadiri, Mercy Johnson, Chinyere Winifred, Larriet Omo Brish, Ini Edo, Joy Ogbunu, Angela Okorie, and Mary Uranta as part of Suleman’s alleged sexual victims.
Reacting to the allegations, Suleman described the reports as an unrealistic litany of names organised to bring him down.
He said some of the personalities with whom he was alleged to have had an affair only came to his church as worshippers.
But during the court sitting on Monday, Suleman accused Halima of publishing derogatory comments against him on her Instagram page.
Delivering his verdict, Enobie Obanor, the presiding judge, said the actress was asked to defend herself in court but failed to do so.
The court directed Abubakar to publish a retraction of her defamatory statements on her Instagram page.
The judge also barred the actress from any further publication on Suleman.
