Millions of young people will be empowered and given jobs thanks to a partnership between the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State, and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI).
The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of NASENI, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, revealed this while welcoming participants of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 46 of NIPSS who were at the Agency on Strategic Institution Study tour on Monday, April 15, 2024, according to a statement released on Monday by the Director of Information at NASENI, Olusegun Ayeoyenikan.
Halilu expressed his excitement about NASENI’s designation as one of the federal government’s institutions with the capacity to empower young Nigerians, generate employment opportunities for them, and establish Nigeria as a manufacturing and digital economy powerhouse.
According to Halilu, one of the most important results of the Agency’s current cooperation and collaborations is to strengthen the ability of important Nigerian stakeholders to obtain, adopt, and scale up technologies. This capacity “must be supported by the relevant offline conditions, such as an enabling policy environment, access to finance, appropriate incentives and innovation capacities.”
The delegation was led by Prof. Ayo Omotayo, the director general of NIPSS, who stated that by transforming NASENI inventions into final goods, Nigerian youths may gain empowerment and the partnership between the two organizations can be strengthened.
He claims that several groups from the institute have been assigned to various agencies to research how policies for national development can be developed. He also says that the group at NASENI will conduct an extensive study on NASENI and how the Agency can assist in utilizing some of its technological innovations to help create job opportunities for Nigerian youth.
He declared, “Infrastructure is essential to Nigeria’s ability to produce high-quality goods, and NASENI plays a major role in all facets of the national economy, but manufacturing in particular. To meet our goals, we require an organization such as NASENI. We can collaborate with you to identify ways to apply your ideas to productive job development and youth empowerment.
He mentioned that the NIPSS participants in Course 46 were interested in learning about the roles, vision, and mission of NASENI as well as how these may be applied to the creation of jobs for young people in the digital economy.
