Under the visionary leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda is poised to diversify Nigeria’s economy, reducing its overreliance on Petroleum Resources. In a recent interactive session with members of the Association of Nigerian Journalists and Writers of Tourism (ANJET) in Lagos, Minister Lola Ade-John emphasized the government’s commitment to revitalizing the tourism sector.

Acknowledging the setbacks experienced in the tourism industry under previous administrations, Minister Ade-John underscored the imperative for transformative action. “We cannot afford to remain stagnant,” she asserted, outlining strategic initiatives aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s tourism sector as a key economic driver.

Among the Minister’s proactive measures is the revival of essential documents, including the Presidential Tourism Council, Tourism Master Plan, and comprehensive inventories of tourism assets spanning federal, state, and local government jurisdictions. These initiatives signify a concerted effort to create an enabling environment conducive to sustainable tourism development.

ANJET members commended Minister Ade-John for her merit-based appointment and the inclusive dialogue fostered through the interactive session. Victor Nze, President of ANJET, reiterated the association’s commitment to collaborating with the Ministry, stating, “We pledge our unwavering support to your leadership.”

Addressing prevailing challenges such as neglect of cultural and tourism sites, Minister Ade-John outlined plans to engage local community leaders in safeguarding and promoting these national treasures. By fostering partnerships with grassroots stakeholders, the Ministry aims to enhance conservation efforts and curb encroachments threatening Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

In alignment with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Ministry of Tourism, under the stewardship of Minister Lola Ade-John, is poised to spearhead a paradigm shift in Nigeria’s tourism landscape. As the nation embraces diversification strategies, the tourism industry stands as a beacon of opportunity, poised to drive economic growth, foster cultural exchange, and showcase Nigeria’s rich heritage to the world.
