The federal government plans to organize children, women, and seniors to plant one billion trees throughout the nation’s six geopolitical zones as part of its attempts to lessen the consequences of climate change.

During a courtesy visit to his office on Wednesday, General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, revealed this to the Environment Minister, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, in Abuja.

Nonetheless, the minister voiced his displeasure at the speed at which criminals have taken control of the nation’s forest reserve areas and are exploiting them to carry out their heinous deeds against the defenseless populace.

He so looked for cooperative and collaboration efforts with the Nigerian army in order to lessen the activities of banditry, poaching, and tree-cutting in our forest-reserved zones.

Congratulating General Musa on his appointment as the nation’s 18th chief of defense staff, Balarabe said it was a well-deserved honor.

In his remarks, General Musa stated that he visited the minister and his staff to have a detailed discussion about the evident consequences of climate change in the nation and how they can work together to stop the ongoing effects on the ecology.

He expressed his gratitude to the minister and his team for their efforts to lessen the severe consequences of climate change on the nation and pledged to assist the ministry’s efforts to preserve Nigerian forests to the fullest extent possible.

During his farewell speech, Adams Muhmud Kambari, the permanent secretary of the ministry of environment, expressed gratitude to the chief of defense staff for his steadfast support and dedication to the natural world.
