Owing to safety infractions, the Lagos State Safety Commission closed two lock-up stores on Martins Street, which is off of Broad Street.

Mr. Lanre Mojola, the director general of the safety commission, revealed that the two lock-up stores were shut as a result of a public petition from an individual who was worried and claimed the shops had broken safety laws and regulations.

He claims that the commission’s duty is to protect people and property in Lagos State.

According to him, the commission was notified of a resident’s concern regarding a transformer situated in front of the stores at No. 148, Broad Street, Marina, Lagos, and as a result, the two establishments were sealed.

An first examination showed that a transformer was positioned just in front of the two stores. He stated that there is a significant risk and unsafe act to people and the environment because the transformer’s barricade is contacting the building’s wall and there is a gas generator nearby. This could result in another fire outbreak.

pleaded with the public to back the government’s zero-tolerance attitude for breaking safety laws and guidelines.

In addition to stressing that everyone must take responsibility for safety, Mojola invited the public to report any unsafe activities or infractions to the commission.
