Comrade Audu Amba, national president of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), has won the esteemed Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) award.
The award was given to Amba, who also serves as the deputy president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Saturday at the NUJ’s Press Freedom and Good Governance Awards.
During the NUJ-organized event, he was presented with the Good Governance Award (Educational Planning and Leadership).
With her trustworthy leadership and mobilization of Nigerian teachers for efficient service delivery, Amba has made outstanding achievements to the country’s education system, which are recognized by this honor.
The award, according to Dr. Chris Isiguzo, national president of NUJ, was given in honor of Comrade Amba’s long history of making significant contributions to the advancement and welfare of teachers.
The NUJ went on to say, “Comrade Amba is a titan in Nigeria’s educational administration and planning field. His outstanding work as the Deputy President of the NLC and the National President of the NUT has energized and instilled trust in these two crucial organizations, which are essential to the growth of our wonderful country, Nigeria. His willingness to advocate for improved working conditions for teachers and other employees in Nigeria and to defend their rights is unmatched.
Comrade Amba thanked the NUJ during the award ceremony for recognizing him as deserving of the recognition. He praised the vital role that journalists play in preserving democracy, encouraging openness, and enabling people to make wise judgments.
He urged Nigerians to honor and remember all journalists who had given their lives in the pursuit of news and knowledge.
