Afrobeats is currently as popular as hip-hop and R&B, according to Nigerian musician Fireboy DML.
Afrobeats is more than simply a genre; it’s a culture and movement with a remarkable history, as the “Peru” hitmaker clarified in a podcast conversation with Noisey.
Conversely, Fireboy claimed that his particular style of Afrobeats is distinct.
“As I often say, songwriting is about being honest. Your story need not be the only one told. It might be the tale of another person. It is irrelevant. When you publish something, as long as it’s honest, someone will be able to relate to it someplace, and that’s what counts,” he stated.
I incorporate that into my rendition of Afrobeats. Afrobeats is renowned for its rhythm, atmosphere, and energy. However, I bring that intent and songwriting vibe. My goal is to make Afrobeats widely known. If you let it, it can be as popular as R&B and hip hop. It’s both a movement and a culture. It has a past. The world is paying attention now more than ever.
