Army Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Rescue 78 Hostages In North-East

Nigerian Army troops have achieved a significant victory in the fight against terrorism in the North-East region.

 

According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, troops successfully conducted an aggressive clearance patrol on March 22, 2024.

 

During the operation, a Combat Team (CT) of the 7 Division Nigerian Army cleared six villages where terrorists were hiding with their hostages.

 

In the course of the operation, the troops encountered the terrorists and engaged them in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the neutralization of five terrorists. Additionally, the brave soldiers rescued 78 individuals, including 35 women and 43 children, who were being held hostage by the terrorists.

 

The villages cleared by the Combat Team include Ngurusoye, Sabon Gari, Mairamri 1 and 2, Bula Dalo, Bula Dalo extension, Yamanci, and Gargaji general areas. Among the items recovered from the terrorists were a terrorists’ flag and a mobile phone belonging to them. The rescued victims are currently in custody for preliminary investigation and profiling.

 

This operation is part of the ongoing Operations Desert Sanity III, aimed at ridding the North East of terrorists and insurgents. The Nigerian Army troops continue to maintain momentum in their efforts to ensure peace and security in the region.
