A high-profile meeting took place on Monday as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar led a delegation to meet with ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Accompanying Atiku were former Governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke, and Senator Aminu Tambuwal, a former governor of Sokoto State.¹
While the agenda of the meeting remains undisclosed, it’s no secret that opposition politicians are gearing up to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election. This meeting may be a strategic move to map out a winning strategy.
The meeting is particularly noteworthy given Atiku’s recent hosting of former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, at his residence in Adamawa State. Could this be a sign of a forming alliance between opposition parties?
As the 2027 presidential election approaches, one thing is clear: the opposition is mobilizing, and key players are meeting to strategize. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
