In accordance with its zero-tolerance policy for attacks on match officials, Gombe United has lost three goals and three points from its season total, according to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The MD26 match between Gombe United and Akwa United resulted in assaults on Bright Nwosu, the center referee; Abdullahi Indabawa, the AR1; Friday Abu Emeje, the AR2; and Musa Hussainy Talle, the fourth official, by club supporters, according to the NPFL’s Summary Jurisdiction notice given to Gombe United.
Charges against Gombe United stemmed from their alleged violations of NPFL Frameworks and Rules B13.52, B13.18, and C1.1. These offenses were caused by their inability to provide sufficient and effective security, which allowed unauthorized individuals to enter restricted areas, their supporters’ hurling of objects at visiting team members and match officials, and their assault on match officials following the game.
Apart from the deduction of points, the club was fined a total of N3 million by the NPFL. This punishment was divided into N1 million for each of the following: throwing objects onto the field of play, failing to provide adequate and effective security, and compensating the four match officials at a rate of N250,000 apiece.
Additionally, the NPFL issued an injunction barring Gombe United supporters from entering Pantami Stadium for the next three (3) home games.
After receiving the consequences, Gombe United has 48 hours to accept them in writing, acquiesce to the decisions, or choose to appear before a disciplinary panel in line with Rule C26.
