It was supposed to be a walk in the park, but the chances of Musiliu Akinsanya, the famous transport union boss – also known as MC Oluomo – becoming the President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) are becoming tougher insiders say.
His main challenger Tajudeen Agbede is said to be gaining more ground by the day.
Agbede is leveraging the spiraling out-of-control face-off between MC Oluomo and Seego (real name Mustapha Adekunle), the new state Chairman of the NURTW in Lagos state, to achieve his aim.
“Agbede is getting more chummy with Seego by the day and many in the latter’s camp have started rooting for him based on the logic that it defies logic to help someone working against one’s interest to a higher position” SocietyNow.Ng learned.
Before things went sour between them, the arrangement was that Seego, the immediate past state treasurer of the NURTW would take over as the Chairman while MC Oluomo moved up as the National President of the union.
This was after they had combined influences to become the controller of the Lagos NURTW and major voice at the national level.
But contrary to expectations, MC Oluomo reportedly made surreptitious moves to retain control of the Lagos NURTW ahead of the takeover by Seego.
The counter moves by Seego not only frustrated the effort but also put MC Oluomo on the opposite side with the “powers that be” giving legitimacy to their actions.
While Oluomo was on the opposite side, Seego became more ingrained and influential.
“The talks are that Seego’s influence is at the level that he will have a big say in who becomes the National President of the NURTW and with estrangement with MC Oluomo unceasing, it appears Agbede may likely get it,” insiders say.
MC Oluomo took over as the Chairman of the Lagos NURTW from Agbede.
Agbede wanted to become the National President of the NURTW after exiting office but was stopped by a combined force mustered by MC Oluomo and Seego.
And four years down the line, Agbede is making another run for the same position – this time with claims of Seego’s support according to information here and there.
“But there talks that some persons are suing for peace between Seego and MC Oluomo for them to work together though is described looking very hard to achieve”
