COP28: Namibian President Meets Tinubu, Discusses Partnership

The president of Namibia, Hage Geingob, has met with President Bola Tinubu, at the ongoing COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai.

Geingob disclosed this on his official X handle (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, December 6.

According to him, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the steps both countries can take to strengthen international relationships.

His tweet read, “At #COP28, I had an opportunity to congratulate My Dear Brother and President of #Nigeria #officialABAT following his election as President of Nigeria.

“We also discuss steps we should take to strengthen Namibia-Nigeria relations for our shared prosperity”.

Earlier, the President faced a backlash from Namibians who accused him of state-funding his four children to attend the Summit in Dubai with other delegates.

Geingob, however, debunked the allegations of him using public funds to sponsor his children to attend the COP28 Summit, saying that the expenses of the children of the first family were paid for by the first couple.
