Corps Members Won’t Be Posted To Dangerous Locations – DG

Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, the Director-General (DG) of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), has encouraged corps members to take advantage of the different skill-building programs offered at the camps in order to enhance their certificates for post-service independence.

The DG assured the corps members that none of them will be assigned to dangerous locations while serving, and he also urged them to abstain from bad habits including drug usage and unapproved travel.

Yushau made this statement over the weekend while getting to know the corps members stationed at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

 

He told them that NYSC will continue to put corps members’ wellbeing first and expressed his delight with their behavior since being called up for orientation, which was deemed to be the best thus far.

 

“I promise that the location where you will be assigned for your main task needs to be secure and safe. Steer clear of needless travel, and if you must, always ask permission before going. Also, don’t forget to bring your identity card with you wherever you go.

 

I implore you to participate fully in all camp activities, as they are intended to help you become ready for life after camp. In particular, I ask that you take your security advice lectures seriously and follow the law. The DG warned the corps members, “You should always dress properly in and out of uniforms, and don’t forget to carry your ID card. Respect culture and traditions of the society you are posted to serve.”

 

Additionally, he emphasized that they should feel free to engage with the community and asked them to appreciate the many thoughts and viewpoints of others. He stated that the goal of the NYSC is to promote unity in diversity.

 

I also strongly advise you to engage in entrepreneurial endeavors because the skills you get will enable you to supplement your income in addition to becoming self-sufficient. The DG stated, “Those who work know that their pay is insufficient.

 

In addition to other meritorious corps members, he gave monetary awards to the NYSC Guard Command, the band, and the cultural group that performed amazing Igbo traditional dance despite being from different ethnic groupings.

In addition to ordering that his phone number be given to the corps members so they could take selfies with the cows to make sure the size he pronounced is presented to them, he promised to give the corps members three fat cows and eighty cartons of malt so they could plan a day to celebrate their arrival in the camp.

 

Earlier in his welcome speech, NYSC coordinator for Borno State Alhaji Adamu Jiya announced that 1,162 corps members—622 men and 550 women—had registered for the 2024 Batch A stream II orientation exercise.

 

He encouraged the corps members to keep up their good behavior since they would be deemed the best because they had shown maturity and a high degree of discipline in the camp.
