It is natural to feel sad or angry when you see someone else getting more recognition or money than you. But you should also know this: the amount an artist gets paid for a show depends on how many tickets they can sell, how big a crowd they can attract, and how much value they have created.

Burna Boy, Fally Ipupa, Omah Lay, Davido are some of the most popular artists in Cameroon across every platform. Their songs are played here more than those of Cameroonian artists. These guys will always get paid more because they have a huge fan base, impressive numbers, and high demand worldwide.

A few days ago, some Cameroonians were complaining that Fally Ipupa would be headlining a show in Cameroon. The show was organized by Camtel, a telecommunication company owned by the state. They thought a Cameroonian artist should be the main act. But Fally Ipupa has been the most streamed artist in Cameroon for more than five years now. He can draw a crazy crowd that most Cameroonian artists cannot. This is not a mockery, it only means something is wrong. It only means there is work to be done.Even if camtel is owned by the government they still need money . Government businesses are definitely not charity .

Burna Boy, Davido, Fally Ipupa, Omah Lay can perform anywhere in the world and they are always in demand. Can Cameroonian artists say the same? We have to learn, work harder, build and grow. For now, we all get what we deserve. An artist has no country, they are global. Unless you are sure that you can never grow beyond your country, that’s when you start crying and trying to stop others from doing the same.

Burna Boy is currently doing stadium shows globally. He is not booked for that, his team set that up. If you think you are that big, why not organize your own stadium shows? Or do you just need someone to blame? Someone who hates successful people hardly grows. Africa is one. Imagine trying to stop our brothers from performing in a certain country just because they are bigger. In this life, you only get what you deserve.
