The management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has announced a refund policy for customers who purchase Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, above the approved rates at its partner filling stations across Nigeria.

This move comes shortly after the refinery reduced its gantry price from N890 per litre to N825 per litre. The revised pricing applies to partner stations, including AP (Ardova Plc), Heyden, and MRS.

According to the company, the price adjustment is aimed at ensuring Nigerians benefit from the reduction, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to boost the economy.

In a statement issued on Sunday, March 2, 2025, Dangote Refinery confirmed it will refund N65 per litre on over 200,000 metric tonnes of PMS purchased by marketers at the previous price of N890 per litre before the new rate of N825 per litre was implemented.

“The step, effective February 27, 2025, guarantees that none of our valued business partners will experience a loss due to the price change. More importantly, it ensures that the new, lower rate takes immediate effect nationwide for the benefit of the Nigerian people,” the statement read.

The refinery urged all marketers sourcing from it to pass the price reduction to consumers and warned against excessive profiteering.

“It is both unpatriotic and detrimental to the welfare of Nigerians for any party to purchase at a rate of N825 per litre and then sell to consumers at N945 or more per litre. This constitutes excessive profiteering, further burdening Nigerians for personal gain,” the company stated.

To ensure compliance, Dangote Refinery encouraged consumers to report any overpricing at its key partner stations.

“Consumers who purchase fuel above the advertised rate at AP (Ardova Plc), Heyden, or MRS anywhere in Nigeria are encouraged to report to Dangote Refinery with their receipts for a full refund of the excess amount,” it added.

The approved pump prices at partner stations are MRS whose price are N860 in Lagos, N870 in the South-West, N880 in the North, and N890 in the South-South and South-East.

The other two are Heyden & AP wirh prices of N865 in Lagos, N875 in the South-West, N885 in the North, and N895 in the South-South and South-East.

With the new gantry price set at N825 per litre, Dangote Refinery stated that no Nigerian should pay more than N900 per litre for petrol, regardless of location.

The company reiterated its commitment to providing high-quality, eco-friendly fuel that enhances vehicle performance and public health while supporting Nigeria’s energy self-sufficiency.

“Our commitment aligns with the objectives of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which champions self-sufficiency in critical sectors like energy. We remain dedicated to supporting Nigeria’s economic growth and ensuring every Nigerian has access to affordable, high-quality energy solutions.

“This initiative is one of many ways Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals continues to contribute to a prosperous and sustainable future for our country. In this journey toward energy security, we stand united with the Nigerian people, always striving to provide lasting solutions and a more prosperous future for all,” the statement concluded.
