This was made known in Alausa on Thursday in a meeting between the management of the Ministry, Vice Chancellors, Provosts of the state-owned tertiary institutions, and the digital training consult.
Addressing the representatives of the Global Wissen Consult, the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education in Lagos state, Tolani Sule expressed the Ministry’s enthusiasm to collaborate with the company and other similar organisations on education matters to enrich the educational curriculum of the state tertiary institutions and to improve knowledge of the students.
He said, “We recognize the importance of digital literacy in enhancing the employability and competitiveness of our students and therefore looking forward to collaborating with the Consult to provide our students with world-class digital training and information technology.”
According to Sule, the Lagos state government and the Ministry recognized the importance of digital literacy in enhancing the employability and competitiveness of our students, as the reason the state government invested in digital training facilities, information technology infrastructure and provided the necessary human capital in all its tertiary institutions.
He said that the implementation of education policies such as Eko Digital Skills and Job Initiative Lagos (JIL) are to improve entrepreneurial skills, artificial and digital intelligence of our tertiary institutions students and Lagos youths in general.
He averred that the Ministry is ready to support any initiative that will provide students with world-class digital training and equip them with the knowledge and expertise required to succeed in the global digital economy.
Speaking at the meeting, the representative of the digital firm, Nathalie Sundelin, emphasised the importance of digital literacy in today’s fast-paced technological landscape. “Our goal is to empower students with the digital skills necessary to compete in the global job market,” she said.
According to her, the collaboration will provide students with access to cutting-edge training programmes, focusing on areas such as digital marketing, design, emerging technologies, business management, and creativity skills.
The partnership stems from the Ministry’s and students in the state government-owned tertiary institutions’ participation in the European Union Students Fair. With this collaboration, Lagos State is poised to empower its students with the digital skills necessary to compete in the global job market.
