In 1999, much criticism surrounded the union of 59-year-old Rasaq Okoya and 22-year-old Sade.

At that time, Rasaq Okoya stood amongst the elite group akin to today’s Dangote and Otedola, ranked high among the wealthy after the likes of MKO.

Newspapers and magazines were rife with disapproval and predictions that their marriage wouldn’t endure. But here they stand, defying odds and outlasting many unions of younger couples.

Life, it seems, comes with no manual. It’s about finding peace within yourself and doing what brings joy. At the end of the day, the opinions of others hold little weight.

For the elderly gentleman, a life filled with love and affection at an older age is immeasurable. A peaceful home is a blessing worth cherishing, with intimacy being merely an added bonus.

Sade Okoya manages the family business and, at 46, has become a grandmother, living a fulfilling life. Perhaps her achievements might differ from what she’d have accomplished with someone younger.

This is why I refrain from criticizing others’ lives. Everyone should follow what works best for them.

Their marriage has been blessed with four beautiful children despite the initial negative comments surrounding their union.

Remember, she was 22 when she fell for the 59-year-old. A 37-year age gap, yet love and faith have kept their bond strong.

When it comes to love, age is inconsequential. It’s essential to disregard what others say and follow your heart.
