The Abia State Secondary School Unity Cup begins on Friday, and teams that are currently leading the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), like as Enyimba Football Club of Aba, Abia Warriors, and Abia Comets of Umuahia, are encouraged to look to this competition for future soccer talent.
This was said on Tuesday at Umuahia Township Stadium by Nwaobilor Ananaba, the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development for the State of Abia, during a briefing for journalists on the secondary school athletic activities, which will feature roughly a thousand children from secondary schools selected from all of the state’s local government areas.
He mentioned that there will be many of chances for scouts from Enyimba, Abia Warriors, and Abia Comets to spot, follow, and sign potential future players during the unity cup.
In addition, he mentioned that plans are on to showcase up-and-coming athletes from the tournaments to the European sports scene. He also mentioned that several sports events involving secondary schools from various Abia local government areas would take place.
