Yesterday,, a momentous occasion unfolded as Made Kuti, the grandson of Fela Kuti and the first child of Femi Kuti, tied the knot with his secondary school sweetheart, Adanne Onyeoso. The wedding ceremony was a captivating fusion of Igbo and Yoruba traditional cultures, showcasing the rich diversity of our nation.

Although I was not physically present, I eagerly followed every detail online, immersing myself in the joyous atmosphere as if I were an invited guest. However, amidst the celebration, two remarkable aspects caught my attention, leaving a profound impact on me.

Firstly, the union of Made and Adanne symbolizes a harmonious blend of the Igbo and Yoruba tribes. These two ethnic groups, often portrayed as adversaries in the realm of politics, have been manipulated by cunning politicians to foster division and animosity. Yet, in the realm of love, a different narrative unfolds.

The children of these sworn enemies are defying societal expectations, transcending political boundaries, and embracing love. Their union serves as a powerful reminder that the ties that bind us as a nation are far stronger than the divisive tactics employed by our corrupt politicians.

Secondly, what struck me was the youthfulness of the couple. Made, at the age of 28, and Adanne, at 25, have chosen to embark on the journey of marriage despite the myriad distractions that often accompany youth. It is truly refreshing to witness such a commitment to love and partnership at such a tender age.

Their love story is nothing short of enchanting, as Made once played the role of Adanne’s school father during their time together in secondary school, before their relationship blossomed into something deeper.

As they embark on this new chapter of their lives, I extend my heartfelt wishes for a blissful and prosperous marriage. May their love continue to flourish, serving as a beacon of hope and inspiration for others.
