A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been inked by the federal government’s Office of the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP) with UTEL Ltd, a Nigerian subsidiary of Unique Agency Kuwait. Through this agreement, Nigerians living in Kuwait, other GCC countries, and Scandinavia would have access to overseas work prospects.
The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, oversaw the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding yesterday in Abuja. She emphasised that this deal is a significant turning point in the government’s continuous efforts to provide Nigerians with high-quality jobs.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) incorporates a “1+2” strategy, whereby the partners will link an outsourced post to the Nigerian BPO industry and support the training of another Nigerian to strengthen the local workforce for each Nigerian selected for a foreign job through NATEP.
It was revealed at the occasion that 250 international job positions were now open to Nigerians.
The programme intends to combat illegal migration and improve Nigeria’s image while enabling the nation to export its skills in a dignified and mutually beneficial manner.
Among the notable personalities in attendance were Advokat Torgeir Knutsen from Norway, Mr. Tahir Saleh Hashim from Oman, and Mr. Athbi Hussein Al Awadi from Kuwait.
The minister gave the partners her word in concluding that Nigeria is totally dedicated to upskilling its labour force, which is essential for the federal government’s economic revitalisation agenda and for producing skilled people for chances in the global talent pool.
